Annual ‘Art and Soul’ Show at McCormick Home Features Inspiring Works
The annual exhibit of art work created by McCormick Home residents takes place from May 25 to 27, 2018. The “Art and Soul” show has been running annually for the last 13 years and provides an important opportunity for residents to share glimpses of their inner journey and their artistic perspectives. An opening reception will take place on Friday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the Great Room at McCormick Home. This year’s show will feature several pieces of art, including acrylic and watercolour paintings, illustrations and silk applications. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Many McCormick Home residents who live with physical and/or cognitive challenges have the opportunity to participate in either group or individual art therapy programs. For most members, this is the first time they have had a chance to engage in art for expression and enjoyment.
The art therapy program is funded by donations to the McCormick Care Foundation, which supports enhanced life enrichment programs and activities for the residents of McCormick Home and clients of McCormick Dementia Services.
McCormick Home is a 160-bed non-profit long-term care facility established in London by the McCormick Care Group (formerly the Women’s Christian Association) in 1892.
