McCormick Home Update

Friday, February 9, 2024

We have received confirmation from the Middlesex-London Public Health Unit that Oak Avenue is in a suspect Influenza A outbreak, with one confirmed resident.

General visitors are asked to postpone all non-essential visits to residents of Oak Avenue, and all residents are to remain in their home area for the duration of the outbreak except for medical, palliative or compassionate care reasons. Essential caregivers can continue to visit outbreak units, but are to only visit with one resident at a time. N95 masks and goggles are to be worn when in an outbreak home area.

Residents will be monitored for symptoms every shift and wear a mask if tolerated. In addition, they are to physically distance themselves from others as much as possible when outside their rooms.

Symptomatic visitors will not be permitted entry into the home. Visitors who become symptomatic while at the home should leave immediately. In addition, we have enhanced our cleaning and disinfecting practices.

Please do your utmost to follow all infection prevention and control practices to prevent the further spread of infection.
