McCormick Care Group – Home Family Update
Monday, March 25, 2024
This is a McCormick Care Group update for Monday, March 25, 2024.
On March 4, 2024, the Ministry of Long-Term Care relaxed the rules related to mandatory masking in long
term care homes. Masks were still recommended, but were not mandated for caregivers and visitors in
non-outbreak home areas.
We felt more comfortable maintaining masking, especially given that March Break and Easter Weekend
celebrations, with increased visiting, were on the horizon. I want to thank all our family members, visitors,
volunteers and staff for supporting continued masking throughout the month of March.
Recently, some of you have asked us when our masking rules will be relaxed. We have tentatively
targeted Monday, April 8, 2024 as the date when masking rules will be relaxed.
We support mask friendly policies and encourage all caregivers and visitors that prefer to continue to
wear a mask to do so. We will continue to provide masks at all entrances to the home. Staff will be
encouraged to wear a mask where a resident or their substitute decision maker request that they do so
when providing care, in alignment with the Resident Bill of Rights.
We ask that you not visit the home if you are experiencing any symptoms. Symptomatic caregivers and
visitors will not be permitted entry into the home and caregivers and visitors who become symptomatic
while at the home should leave immediately. Please do your utmost to follow all infection prevention and
control practices, including hand-washing, to control further spread of infectious diseases within our home
and community.
