“Art and Soul” Exhibit Celebrates the Creative Spirit

LONDON, ON –McCormick Home is proud to announce its 12th annual art therapy show from May 26 to 28, 2017, featuring art produced by McCormick Home residents. Entitled “Art and Soul,” this year’s show will begin with an opening reception on Friday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the Great Room at McCormick Home.  Members of the public are welcome to attend. This year’s show will feature several pieces of art, including acrylic and watercolour paintings, pencil work, and paper and silk dyes.

McCormick Home, a long-term and dementia care facility, offers group and individual art therapy programs. Many residents who live with physical and/or cognitive challenges have the opportunity to participate. For most members, this is the first time they have had a chance to engage in art for expression and enjoyment.

The art program is also funded by donations to the McCormick Care Foundation, which supports enhanced life enrichment programs and activities for the residents of McCormick Home and clients of McCormick Dementia Services including the art therapy program.

McCormick Home is a 160-bed non-profit long-term care facility established in London by the McCormick Care Group (formerly the Women’s Christian Association) in 1892.  It has a proud history of providing high quality care for seniors and others requiring long-term care.  It is also the home of McCormick Dementia Services, which offers the largest day program of its kind in Ontario and has been providing support services to individuals with dementia and their caregivers for more than 30 years.
