McCormick Home and McCormick Dementia Services Awarded Three-Year Accreditation for Quality Long-Term and Dementia Care

LONDON, ON — McCormick Home and McCormick Dementia Services have been successfully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for a three-year period.

According to CARF, this decision “represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows substantial conformance to CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer-review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.”

McCormick Home, a long-term care facility established in London in 1892, and McCormick Dementia Services, a dementia support program that offers the largest adult day program in Ontario, have participated in accreditation reviews for nearly 40 years. This latest accreditation represents the second with CARF, which, in addition to long-term care, accredits specialized areas such as adult day programs and dementia care.

By pursuing and achieving accreditation, McCormick Home and McCormick Dementia Services have demonstrated that they meet international standards for quality long-term care, adult day programs and dementia care, and are committed to pursuing excellence in care delivery. This review also included a positive evaluation of the board governance model at McCormick Care Group.

“Much work goes into ensuring compliance with the accreditation standards as well as in participating in the tri-annual review. We are grateful to our staff and volunteers at McCormick Home and McCormick Dementia Services for their ongoing commitment and adherence to the highest standards in the health services industry,” says Steve Crawford, CEO of the McCormick Care Group.

CARF is an independent, non-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services, and enhancing the lives of persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the CARF International group of companies currently accredits more than 59,000 programs and services at more than 27,000 locations around the world.

McCormick Home is a not-for-profit, long-term care home that has served London and area for more than 130 years. The home creates an environment that encourages residents to be as active, independent and involved in life as possible.

Since 1986, McCormick Dementia Services has offered the largest dementia day program in Ontario and has a strong history and an ongoing commitment to delivering the highest quality programs and services to clients and caregivers.
