McCormick Care Group Announces Employee Values Award Recipient for 2022
We’re pleased to announce that Heidi Smythe is our 2022 McCormick Care Group Employee Values Award winner. Heidi was selected for her exemplary demonstration of our organizational value of collaboration – the focus of this year’s honour – which McCormick Care Group defines as strengthening our teams, learning from each other and contributing to enhancing the health care system through respectful cooperation, knowledge sharing, and mutually beneficial partnerships.
Heidi started working at McCormick Home as a recreation specialist in 1989 and currently works in the McCormick Day Program. She is known for her positive attitude and dedicated work ethic by our staff, clients, residents, family members and care partners.
“When working at the home, Heidi collaborated with all disciplines to ensure that the best quality care was provided to the residents,” according to one award nominator. “In the day program, Heidi continues to collaborate with social work, nursing and recreation to ensure clients’ needs are being met. She also supports clients by working with families to develop strategies to help their loved ones at home.”
In 2021, Heidi began co-facilitating a care partner education group with a day program social worker that focuses on teaching care partners how to deliver adapted recreation activities at home. Her reach in supporting others through collaboration extends across our programs and beyond our walls.
We are grateful to the members of the Quality of Work Life Action Team and the Values Award sub-committee for organizing the annual award, and extend our sincerest congratulations to Heidi on this achievement.
