The Importance of a Caregiver Support Network
How is your support network holding up these days? Do you have one? Do you rely on the help of others to help propel yourself upward in times of need?
Caregiving can be a very rewarding experience, but it can also come with many challenges. The support you need along the way can vary as well. What does support mean to you?
As we being to emerge from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we can now begin to safely connect with others for the help we need, including safely arranged in-person meetings, a call on the phone with a friend, a virtual Zoom call with a group of friends or family, sending others cards in the mail or sharing pictures with each other over text or e-mail.
Did you know that McCormick Home offers a spousal support group for people who have a spouse in long-term care anywhere in London and the surrounding area? The group is facilitated by the home’s social worker and is a mutually supportive program designed for the unique needs of people who have a spouse living in long-term care. It is offered online every second and fourth Monday at 1:30 p.m., with a break in August. If you have any interest in joining us, please don’t hesitate to reach out to learn more. Sometimes, people find that sharing with others in a safe setting can be helpful as they navigate challenging times.
